Professional Headshot of Amandine Belard

Welcome!

My research interests lie at the intersection of development, behavioral, and environmental economics. I am interested in how climate change affects economic decision-making and livelihoods in vulnerable settings, and in exploring mechanisms that support transitions toward sustainability.

My PhD research examines how smallholder farmers adopt sustainable agricultural practices and how collective action and social capital can be leveraged to foster environmental and economic sustainability using surveys and experimental methods (discrete choice experiments and lab-in-the-fields). I have implemented and lead fieldwork in Senegal, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria.

I completed my Ph.D. in Economics in June 2025 from L'Institut Agro in France. My dissertation, supervised by Dr. Damien Jourdain and Dr. Françoise Gérard, was conducted within CIRAD as part of the EU-funded Resilience Building for Agroecological Intensification in Zimbabwe project. I hold a Master's degree in Public Policy and Development from the Toulouse School of Economics.
